However, be prepaired for whatever kind of
weather might come up!
You might be in for a surprise.

After a quiet night this is what met us the next morning!

Anyway, we really did enjoy our stay in the cottage, which we rented
through
the Tourist Office at Skara, at a cost of Euro 70,- for a night.
Way down the hill from the cottage, we had to drive carefully, but
when we finally
reached the lowland along the Lake Hornborga, everything was fine
again:

Thousands of birds, small and big, grey and colored, you name it....

A gueese posing for a picture to be taken, and another duck that didn't
like it....

Even if this also is a bit unsharp, I finally managed to get it when
his head was
above the water.... His name is Anas crecca, and is the smallest
duck visiting.

Another 1.000 cranes arrived to day, and made a total of 10.500 this
day.
What makes this place in Sweden so attractive? During the past 200
years,
cranes have stopped by here because of the food they find. First it
was leftover
potatoes in the fields, then since mid 80's theyt feed them corn.
They eat from one
to three tons a day, and between 75 and 200 tons during the spring.

What is most exciting
when you come here, is to see the cranes dancing. However, they
don't dance all the time, and when we visited,
they were mostly interested in having
more food.

Seeing the cranes
coming in for landing,
is what we find most interesting. They look
so helpless when they
seem to 'fall down',
but then again,
so gracious when they
come down on ground.

Of course, they have to spend a lot of
time eating, coming all the way from Spain -
and still a long bit to got till they arrive at their summer-residencies
way up in
Northern Scandinavia and Russia.

and so it's good bye for now. Till we meet
again in September?
....and I am sure you also are most welcome to
enjoy this fantastic event next year!
