Our Beautiful World

 Nature: Beaver II

Here you can see how they have cut a tree into several smaller pieces,
each about a yard (meter) long.

The path down to the shore is still in use, but wet....

We did surprise one of them on day on our beach, but of course -
it didn't wait for my camera to come into position.

Look how they have been eating on a lot of branches on top ot the hut.
It has been cold lately, probably therefore, they have not gone far for their dinner.

January 19th, 2007. Snow has fallen.

Notice footprints lower right. Their playground are still in use,
even it looks like a little frozen. But they still run up and rush down.

This is the area around their hut, down at the waterfront.
Look a bit cold to us.

The path down to their hut has frozen. Must be fun going home....
But not many footprints around these days.
February 3rd, 2007

So peacefull and quiet - yet they are in there, but how many?
Notice the ever changing form of the top. New branches are carried down every week.

February 2007, Snow has fallen, a layer of about 2 feet is covering the area.
We were certainly surprised when we found these footprints just a 100 meters from
a farm, the one nearest their home, but yet more than half a mile away.

Early June, 2007. Vegetation on top of their home, but no sight of them yet.

05.06.2008.  Difficult to get close to, and when you finally manage......

It doesn't even take a second - and that was all for tonight....

More to come, so, as they say, STAY TUNED.....

Too much water during springflow, just like in July 2007. This time it came earlier.
As we did not notice much activity last winter, we think that the flow took the kids,
and we wonder what goes on now. Hight of water is about 70 cm above normal.
