This path didn't look like it was in use too often, but it was a thrilling experience
which we can recommend to you all.

Of course we had to do a lot of walking as we had no car available.
(Because wi didn't want one...) On the way up to Los Llanos de Animas,
(The plane of the Spirits????) we passed this roadsign, telling us that there
was a second route back to Puntagorda, even if it did not exactly
bring us back in the center of the village.

It didn't look like it was in use too often, but we took a chance, and
luckily we did so, because we were given a wonderful time
in a nature that we have seldom seen anywhere else.

This route which sent us down some steep slopes, showed us
the all over growing almonds, but also more flowers than we did see
any other places on our wanderings.

This path was called SL PG 62, and you can find it on the map on the
'climbing-page', taking off from the path up the mountain to
the top, at about the 1.100m above sea level. From there it goes
right down to Fagunda on the highway, and from there we found
the old main-road back to the center of Puntagorda.

Just two years ago they had one of the biggest forest-fires
in many years in this part of the island. And as usual it was
some campers who had lit up fire for their barbeque in the woods
that put on the whole thing, destroying several miles of wood,
and even some homes. Luckily most of the old pines managed
to stay alive, even if they were all burned in their lower parts.

The nearer we came to Puntagorda again, the more houses showed up.
Some were new, but it was much more interesting looking at all
the old farms and homes on the way back. Some places were
abandoned, but the fruit-trees (almonds) in the gardens, not to
forget the flowers that once where set out here, surely were all flowering yet.
